Steve picked me up at about 7:30 and we began the long ride to the border. Steve told me if he had checked his email earlier I might have gotten a plane ride with his pilot friend straight to Wichita! But I enjoyed the ride and got to see some things I might not otherwise.
Gary and I had our last morning coffee together, then I was off to San Lucas.
My home for a week
Emanuel and I were going the same way, but we parted early in the day. I was headed for playa El Coyote, where many bike tourers have spent time resting and enjoying the beach.
Well, after only three months and 3000 miles, I'm headed home. Fatigue set in somewhere in California, and though I've pushed myself to keep going for about a month now, I've reached a point where I feel it's best to turn back and figure out another plan.
My time at the RV park in San Lucas has been one of the highlights of my trip. Royce and Sue were so giving, so friendly, and we had similar interests and senses of humor. After a couple of days I felt like we'd been friends for life.
